Harbor’s Edge is a premier resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located on the harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Harbor’s Edge has a $225 million expansion underway, the River Tower, that includes an additional 24-story tower, doubling the square footage and adding 147 residential living units and 20 assisted living units. When complete, Harbor’s Edge will have 300 residential units in addition to a 33 bed (Medicare/Private Pay) Skilled Nursing unit and 80 Assisted Living/Memory Care units. The Community will employ approximately 300 employees.
Harbor's Edge is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Full-Time Registered Medication Aide to join our Team. He/she will be responsible for providing direct support, positive direction, and assistance in accordance to each resident's individualized support plan and personal outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows individualized plan of care for each assigned resident
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
- Checks and records vital signs and weights; collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens; and assists with bowel and bladder needs
- Administers medications or treatments under the direction of a Licensed Nurse
- Assists residents with transfers and ambulation as directed and ordered by the physician using proper body mechanics; use of facility gait belts, back supports, and mechanical devices is required
- Encourages residents to participate in recreational activities and assists residents in getting to activities
- Provides transportation for residents within facility and, at times, accompanies to appointments outside facility
- Responds to urgent calls as needed
- Reports and documents daily care
- Helps admit and discharge residents according to facility procedure
- Attends in-service classes and staff meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma/GED at a minimum
- Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Registered Medication Aide licensed in the State of Virginia
- Trained in medication administration in accordance with physician’s orders and consistent with the standards of practice in “A Resource Guide for Medication Management for Persons Authorized Under the Drug Control Act” approved VA Nursing Bd with supervision
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Experience and knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical supplies and equipment
- An up-beat and engaging personality
- Genuine desire to work with the elderly and/or disabled
- Must be able to exert 50-100 lbs of force to assist elderly in and out of wheelchairs
- Able to follow spoken and written instructions
- Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
- CPR and First Aid Trained with a valid certificate/card
