The Harbor View Hotel, a luxurious establishment located in Edgartown Harbor on Martha's Vineyard, seeks an exceptional hospitality professional to oversee its operating programs. With a rich history dating back to 1891, the hotel has undergone a significant renovation and repositioning. The successful candidate will have a wide frame of reference in luxury hotels and restaurants, be conversant in regional and national resort hotel and food and beverage operations, and possess excellent communication and leadership skills.
Job Description
The General Manager will work closely with the owner, chief operating officer, and corporate office sales, marketing, and finance team to ensure the fulfillment of the owner's vision for the hotel's luxury setting. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing vision, leadership, and strategy to inspire team members to deliver exceptional facilities, hotel services, food and beverage, and cuisine
- Ensuring operational excellence and professionalism throughout the hotel
- Managing department managers and day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines
- Preserving excellent internal and external guest service
The General Manager will also be responsible for recruiting, training, and appraising talented personnel, establishing performance targets, staffing schedules, and policies and procedures, and leading the hotel and larger leadership teams with a clear message, sound judgment, patience, persistence, and generous feedback.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
- 5-7 years of previous General Management experience in a fast-paced, high-volume atmosphere, seasonal and iconic destination setting
- 5-8 years of Restaurant Experience in a range of positions
- Excellent people skills and a positive, outgoing, and naturally happy personality
- Essential computer skills including Microsoft Office, Zoom, collaborative workspaces, and Point of Sale and Inventory Management systems
- Serv-Safe Certification
Candidates should also have the ability to handle obstacles in a positive and professional manner, make decisions guided by established policies and procedures, and possess excellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills in English.

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
