Harbor is seeking a Junior Manager to join our growing Strategy Transformation team. Our Strategy Transformation teams work with law firms and corporate law departments to provide a wide range of management consulting services focused on optimizing business strategies and improving operational performance through people, process, and service delivery transformation. You will support specific client engagements on a project-by-project basis. You will help mentor associate-level individuals and provide guidance in supporting the completion of deliverables and commitments. You will embody core values by providing an excellent client experience, developing current and future client relationships through service delivery that exceeds client expectations.
This is a full-time position that can work remote or hybrid out of our Chicago office.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating with Project Leadership on all aspects of projects including collecting information, data analysis and research, creating reports and presentations, status updates, and leading client meetings
- Demonstrate knowledge of the legal industry/practice and business acumen to support the development of solutions and insights for clients as it relates to people, process, and service delivery transformation. This should ideally include projects related to in-house legal operations or law firm strategy and business services operations
- Independently structure, write, and present effectively, as well as generate organized and persuasive deliverables
- Work closely with team members and client personnel to review findings and help support implementation of recommendations
- Guide junior team members with client communication, project management/ execution and practice operations
- Support practice administration and planning through input on project pipeline tracking as well as resource planning
- Contribute to the ongoing growth of Harbor’s reputation for thought leadership and problem-solving and actively contribute to practice growth/evolution
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, with preference given towards those with business or economics oriented degrees
- 5-6 years of total work experience, preferrable in consulting or in a relevant industry with a client-facing role delivering projects
- Experience with in-house law department operations and/or law firm operations and strategy strongly preferred
- Proven track record of managing multiple engagements and clients simultaneously
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills including experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills (written and spoken) demonstrating confidence, professionalism and sound judgement when interacting with clients and internal stakeholders
- Excels in a cooperative team environment
- Ability to create client deliverables with limited oversight from senior leadership
- Positive, enthusiastic attitude and entrepreneurial spirit with an eagerness to quickly learn and develop new subject matter expertise and business skills
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize tasks, maintaining exacting standards for work product with keen attention to detail
- Advanced computer skills (primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with use of Outlook, Teams and SharePoint as collaboration tools
- Occasional travel may be required (domestic or international)
