Description
General Purpose of this Position:
Responsible for managing the team and the work in process from multiple projects. You will plan and direct workflow to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Primary Responsibilities
Shop Operations Management
- Ensure that all company and industry regulated quality standards are maintained on all projects.
- Ensure compliance with regulations according to our quality system, work orders, specifications, and other tools.
- Ensure welding and product quality meets company standards on all jobs.
- Work extended hours as required per job requirements.
Schedule Management
- Collaborate with the plant manager and first shift supervisors to manage work in progress and maintain shop production schedule.
- Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely, meeting customer delivery expectations.
- Plan and direct job for successful completion.
Safety Management
- Ensure all personnel are trained in and follow safety processes and procedures, consistent with OSHA requirements and good practice.
- Organize and implement shop mentoring program for new and or inexperienced processing and QC personnel.
Personnel Supervision
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical direction and assembly to team members.
- Responsible to ensure hours are logged to proper job and report weekly for payroll and job costing.
- Oversee all personnel issues to include performance, employee relation issues and disciplinary process in conjunction with company policies and management.
- Apply recognition or discipline of direct reports as required.
- Train shop personnel in proper procedures.
Other Duties as Assigned
Reporting
Reports directly to Plant Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong welding knowledge and application in MIG, TIHG and Flux Core. Ability to recommend proper procedures for specific jobs and provide guidance to the shop.
- Familiarity with AWS Delta and AISC Standards
- OSHA Standards
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in metal fabrication and 2 years’ experience as a supervisor in this environment.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, organizational, problem solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to meet challenging deadlines in an efficient and profitable manner.
- Ability to read drawings and engineer fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures.
- Knowledge of welding procedures and welder qualifications and record keeping.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Credential and Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in metal fabrication and 2 years of experience as a supervisor in this environment is preferred.
