What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electromyograph (EMG) Technician position at Harborside Spine & Sports Center?
Join our team of friendly professionals! We are looking for an electromyograph (EMG) technician. This person works under the general supervision of a Physiatrist to perform Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) to access the function of peripheral nerve pathways on patients referred for EMG study. This is a part-time position, with some flexibility in the work schedule, with intent to move to full-time as patient volume increases. Prior experience is preferred, but not required. A successful candidate will be knowledgeable with muscular anatomy, dependable, compassionate, well-organized, and detail-oriented and will be able to follow health and safety guidelines consistently.
Responsibilities
- EMG tech will assist the Physician in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care by operating diagnostic equipment in order to diagnose disease, injuries and abnormalities.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform or learn diagnostic EMG testing procedures.
- Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients.
- Monitor patient’s condition and assess needs before, during and after EMG.
- Perform routine processes relating to EMG, prepare paperwork, and document in patients’ charts.
Skills
- Proven experience with hands-on patient contact
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A minimum of Associate's degree in health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum one year experience with the methods, equipment and materials used in electromyography. Must be Certified by AAET. This position may be underfilled with a candidate who is in the process of receiving the AAET certification or willing to begin the process upon hire. Certification must be obtained within one year.
