What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dosing Nurse position at Harbortown Treatment Center?
Harbortown Treatment Center, a substance abuse treatment center, is seeking a part-time LPN or RN to join our organization. The LPN or RN must be able to dispense medications in the mornings, starting at 6 AM. The RN must also be able to work some weekend mornings.
Responsibilities
- Nurse is responsible for the safe and the efficient dispensing and administering of Methadone to opioid dependent clients.
- Dispenses methadone dose to patients and observe ingesting of dose on-site.
- Monitors patient’s physical and mental status while dispensing.
- Monitors patient’s urine collection, to ensure proper specimen has been obtained.
- Prepare urine specimens for shipment to outside lab.
- Documentation of medical and clinical records and observations, records keeping regarding Methadone inventory and control.
- Works in close coordination with other treatment team members.
- Participates in Staff Trainings and Clinical Staffing as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Program Director and MD’s
- Interested candidates should have a strong interest in working in substance abuse field, be a team player, be organized, and have a strong interpersonal communication skills and be dependable.
Education/Training
- Active LPN or RN license in the State of Michigan
- Up-to-date knowledge of addictions, HEP-C, HIV issues preferred.
- Knowledge and ability to use computers and software preferred.
Experience Preferred
- Performs various nursing procedures as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Creative problem solver who can suggest ways to enhance program.
- Ability to plan, organize, set objectives, time frames and independent judgement.
- Demonstrate experience in addiction and needs identification preferred.
