Program: Youth Employment Services (Y.E.S.)
Job Title: Youth Life Coach
Supervisor: Program Coordinator
Salary Range: $15.76 - $16.00, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Job Summary: The Youth Life Coach is responsible for assisting at-risk youth in obtaining educational and employment goals as per their career plan and program requirements. The Life Coach is responsible for delivering Comprehensive Client Case Management Employment Program (CCMEP) elements and other youth services as per agency funding agreements.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Administer assessments
- Identify participant goals, barriers and supportive service needs
- Provide instruction on program key elements/curriculum
- Provide leadership opportunities
- Coordinate community services projects
- Plan and lead career exploration and work experience opportunities
- Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies
- Facilitate and support participant transportation, as needed
- Prepare and submit case notes and reports, as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work or related field preferred.
- Able to work with, and be sensitive to, the needs of low income and diverse populations.
- Minimum of one-year employment or volunteer experience working in education, counseling, job coaching, or case management.
- Previous experience working with at-risk youth or young adults preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Able to engage at-risk youth and young adults in both group and individual instruction.
- Group facilitation, public speaking and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and ability sufficient to teach others financial literacy, job skills and leadership.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail, texting and social media.
- Understanding of local, state and federal labor laws and minor labor laws.
- Able to work both independently, with considerable self-direction, and as a contributing team member.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability and willingness to comply with agency and funding source(s) performance standards.
Eligibility Limitations:
- Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, clearance to drive agency vehicles by adhering to organizational requirements and maintain required auto insurance.
- Must successfully complete BCII/FBI Criminal Background check and submit to all required pre-employment and other drug screening, as per agency and/or funder policy.
- Travel within county is frequently required, as well as occasional travel outside of the area, for meetings and/or trainings.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate participant availability and meet the needs of the program.
- Frequently in a stationary position for several hours a day.
- Frequent sitting, standing, reaching with occasional walking on hard or uneven surfaces at training locations or work sites.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying 20 lbs. of supplies or equipment.
