We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting ophthalmologists and ensuring that patients receive high-quality care. Responsibilities
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and refraction.
- Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately in medical records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
- Educate patients about eye health, treatment options, and post-operative care.
- Manage front desk operations including scheduling appointments and processing patient check-ins.
- Collaborate with retail sales teams to provide patients with information on eyewear products and services.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and equipment.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to eye health.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices for accurate billing.
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and documenting them appropriately.
- Understanding of medical records management systems.
- Solid grasp of medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Experience in retail sales or collaboration sales is a plus for assisting patients with eyewear options.
