Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting ophthalmologists and ensuring that patients receive high-quality care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and physiology, along with excellent communication skills to facilitate patient interactions and assist with various clinical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and refraction.
  • Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately in medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
  • Educate patients about eye health, treatment options, and post-operative care.
  • Manage front desk operations including scheduling appointments and processing patient check-ins.
  • Collaborate with retail sales teams to provide patients with information on eyewear products and services.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and equipment.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physiology related to eye health.
  • Familiarity with medical coding practices for accurate billing.
  • Proficiency in taking vital signs and documenting them appropriately.
  • Understanding of medical records management systems.
  • Solid grasp of medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
  • Experience in retail sales or collaboration sales is a plus for assisting patients with eyewear options.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and team members.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
