Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our client’s team in Lumberton, NC. Key responsibilities include the precise administration of ionizing radiation to designated areas as per the prescribed dose. Additionally, you will educate and inform patients and their families about their radiation therapy treatments, referring them to an Oncology nurse or Radiation Oncologist when needed. You will also schedule and manage daily therapy treatment appointments, document the daily dose delivered, and accurately calculate the accumulated dose and elapsed treatment days.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiation Therapy
- Board Certified or Registry eligible by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy
- BLS certification
- ARRT Registered
- 1 year experience (Preferred)
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
- Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical oncology required
- Must understand radiation physics, radiation safety, and basic dosimetry theories
- Must understand safe and proper operation of linear accelerators and simulator equipment
- Must be able to follow complex written and verbal instructions in setting up patients for radiation therapy treatments
- Must be able to work with little supervision and efficiently maintain a daily appointment schedule
- Must possess the ability to communicate with patients from various socio/economic backgrounds and coping abilities, physicians, nurses, and other staff members
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups
- Provides care based on the patient's developmental needs
- Demonstrates understanding of policies regarding Corporate Compliance issues and understands responsibility to report cases of fraud and/or abuse

Responsibilities
- Performs patient radiation treatment
- Performs daily QA
- Communicates with patients or their representatives, and oversees the provision of care for their personal needs
- Provides patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to the patient's condition
- Considers non-clinical issues relevant to patient care
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served
- Uses and applies designated procedures to protect self and others
- Participates in general unit support functions
- Takes an active role in self development
- Performs miscellaneous activities, as needed, to support unit operations and the provision of care
