The Construction Safety Assistant supports the implementation and enforcement of safety policies and procedures on construction sites. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations while assisting in accident prevention, conducting safety training, and maintaining safety documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring and enforcing compliance with workplace safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in accident investigations, report preparation, and implementation of preventive measures.
- Help develop and deliver safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and orientation programs for workers.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training logs, and compliance documentation.
- Support the Safety Manager in implementing emergency response plans and procedures.
- Communicate safety-related concerns to management and collaborate on solutions.
- Stay updated on the latest occupational safety standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- OSHA 30-hour certification required (OSHA 500 preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify hazards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in construction or safety-related roles required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work on active construction sites, often in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
