Harding Academy is an independent, co-educational school offering Pre-K through Grade 8 education in Nashville, TN. Harding Academy’s after school program, Pursuit, regularly seeks individuals to help supervise its program attendees. Pursuit offers after-school care for students in Pre-K through Grade 5, welcoming roughly 80-120 students each day.
This is a part-time non-exempt position offering an hourly wage of $12.00-20.00 /hour based on qualifications, and offering no further benefits.
- In-progress high school students: $12.00/hour
- Some college / some childcare experience: $14-16/hour
- College degree / teaching experience / extended childcare experience: $17-20/hour
- Flexible work hours, up to 20 hours per week

ANTICIPATED START DATE: As early as Wednesday, August 7, 2024 / Flexible
- Hiring process will begin late July / early August 2024 and will continue as needed
- Typical available hours August 26 - May 23 include flexible work hours, 4-21 hours per week
- Monday-Friday 2:00-6:00 PM, Wednesdays 7:30-8:30 AM
- Special August availability:
- August 7 - 13: 7:30 AM - 3:45 PM available
- August 14 - 16: 11:30 AM - 6:00 PM available
- August 19 - 23: 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM available
While we are currently seeking multiple Pursuit Staff members for the upcoming school year, there may not be an active need throughout the entire year, although this job posting will remain active. - This part-time position involves supervision of children ages 4 to 14 years old.
- Pursuit prides itself as an on-campus after school program, dedicated to creating a space based upon safety, kindness and respect.
- Pursuit is typically open from 2pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday, when school is in session, and is flexible with student worker schedules.
- Additional hours available for Pursuit staff include:
- supporting our early morning program each Wednesday when school is in session from 7:30am-8:30am (paid 2x hourly rate)
- assisting with Pursuit Night Out events 2-4 times per year on Friday evenings from 6:00pm-9:30pm (paid 2x hourly rate)
- Our available staff members also provide support for an early morning program each Wednesday when school is in session from 7:30am until approximately 8:45am, during special event and early dismissal days, and 4 times per year on a Friday evening from 6pm-9pm.
- Pursuit workers are involved in organizing games, crafts, art activities, sports, and assisting with general logistics of our students, in addition to helping with homework.

Qualifications/Experience
- Childcare Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Minimum of in-progress High school or College degree
- Major in Education is a plus
- Reliable transportation to and from campus for your assigned shift(s)
- First Aid and CPR certifications (preferred)
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Child behavior, development, and learning patterns (preferred)
- Basic standards of child health and safety (preferred)
- Diverse cultural communities and backgrounds
ABILITY TO:
- Role-model positive behavior for students
- Oversee and monitor students in PreK-Grade 5
- Provide a safe, clean, and organized environment
- Recognize conflict between students and provide guidance and coping skills
- Interact with individuals, small groups, and large groups of students with tact and patience
- Understand and relate to children
- Observe health and safety regulations
- Learn, follow, and explain school rules, regulations, policies, and daily practices regarding Harding and Pursuit program operations
- Respectfully interact with Harding faculty, students, and parents
- Work collaboratively as a part of the Pursuit team
- Lead with patience, playfulness, curiosity and tact
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak; hear; stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, grasp or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
