Get ready to hit the open road! As a skilled professional Local Driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of the tractor-trailer combo, following Federal Motor Carrier Safety Commission (FMCS) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. In this position, you will deliver precious cargo to its destination in a local capacity ensuring everything is delivered on time and in tip-top condition, while also keeping clients in the loop. Remember, as the face of our brand, you’ll need to represent our company with pride and professionalism.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Operations:
- Perform POST trip inspections of tractor/trailer using the E-DVIR
- Perform PRE-Trip and INTER Tip inspections
- Inspect and inventory goods to be moved
- Obtain the correct count and description of the load
- Tarp or fasten chains and straps to secure the load on the trailer during transit
- Assist in loading or unloading the truck, if asked
- Drive the truck to the weight station before and after loading, and along the route to document weight and conform to state regulations
- Note the layover and/or detention times on the NRM (Non-Revenue Manifest) and Driver Trip Sheet
- Ensure the service standards are being met
- Follow Fueling Guidelines
Safety:
- Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards
- Previous employment verification and drug testing background checks will be completed, in addition to criminal background checks
- No major DOT reportable accidents or serious traffic violations in the past 3 years
- DOT and FMCSA compliance
- Participate in the Driver Safety Workshops and Monthly Safety Videos
Client Satisfaction:
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance, as you are the face of Team Hardinger Transportation
- Maintain a good relationship with clients by responding to all inquiries and complaints, which may concern work orders, shipments, etc. courteously and efficiently
- Report client feedback to management, including any signs of dissatisfaction
- Understand and meet all client quality goals and indices
Administrative:
- Follow instructions and complete the bill of lading, gather the non-revenue manifest, shipping release, and/or shuttle release as needed. Obtain signatures where required
- Verify the trip information sheet which should be filled out with the shipper, consignee, complete addresses, tractor, trailer, load, and layover time
- Complete trip sheets with all information listed and correct
Qualifications/Skills:
- Must have Class A - CDL license
- Two or more years of directly related experience (preferred)
- Flatbed experience (preferred)
- Ability to pass required background checks
- No DUI/DWI in the past 7 years
