Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Cable, Rigging, and Pipe Sales and Production Associate to join our team. This versatile role combines retail sales expertise with hands-on production work, including quoting custom cable and rigging solutions, manufacturing custom orders, cutting pipe and chain to customer specifications, and maintaining inventory for multiple product lines. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the operation of equipment, including cutting tools and forklifts, in adherence to strict safety protocols. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, manage inventory efficiently, and ensure high-quality production standards in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Cable and Rigging Production:
- Serve as the primary resource for quoting and manufacturing custom cable and rigging solutions.
- Operate tools and equipment to fabricate cables and rigging to customer specifications, ensuring precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain and organize rigging and cable inventory to facilitate efficient production and order fulfillment.
Pipe and Chain Cutting:
- Assist customers in selecting the appropriate pipe, chain, or related products for their needs.
- Operate cutting equipment to produce custom lengths of water, sewer, drain, culvert, downspout, gas pipe, and heavy chains in various materials.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Sales and Customer Assistance:
- Greet customers warmly and assist with selecting the appropriate products or services for their projects.
- Provide expert product knowledge and technical advice to customers regarding cable, rigging, pipe, and chain products.
- Offer guidance on product use, safety, and maintenance to enhance customer satisfaction.
Inventory Management:
- Track and manage inventory levels across cable, rigging, pipe, and chain products, ensuring availability and minimizing waste.
- Coordinate with vendors to place orders, receive deliveries, and address supply chain issues as needed.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accurate records.
Floor Merchandising and Display:
- Ensure department displays are organized, visually appealing, and accurately priced.
- Rotate stock to highlight seasonal or promotional items, maximizing sales opportunities.
- Maintain a clean and orderly sales floor and work area to create a welcoming environment for customers.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Partner with other departments to ensure smooth operations and a consistent customer experience.
- Communicate operational needs, customer feedback, and suggestions for improvement to management.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on product offerings, safety protocols, and best practices.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in a hardware store preferred.
- Experience in retail sales, inventory management, cable and rigging, or pipe preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to handle inventory, perform basic computer tasks for ordering and sales, and operate equipment safely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a retail environment.
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Basic math skills for inventory management, measurements, and sales.

This position will require you to be on your feet all day long, as well as lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, and bending. You should be able to lift 50 pounds from the ground as well as put heavy objects on shelves above your head. This job will require climbing ladders and going up and down stairs on a daily basis. This job will require you to be very organized and be able to identify differences in similar items with similar part numbers. Must be good with numbers.
This position will require operating forklifts and a variety of equipment related to the cutting, measurement, and fabrication of cable and rigging, pipe threading, and more. You must adhere to safety procedures.
This role is regular full-time, non-exempt, hourly position.
