ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I
SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to assist with the design, development and integration of Hardwire armor solutions into military R&D programs, commercial applications, and other manufacturing related tasks in Hardwire's many business segments.
This position is a hybrid format in which daily duties include both providing support to current senior Engineering Technicians and Engineers and performing manufacturing responsibilities. The position will have a probationary period of 120-days to assess performance and potential before any compensation increase will be considered.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with lead engineers to prepare detailed 2D & 3D technical drawings (using AUTOCAD and Solidworks) for projects from engineer/customer supplied models.
- Create assembly and installation instructions, bill of materials, etc.
- Provide CAD/CAM/DXF files as required by suppliers for fabrication and manufacturing of parts.
- Compile, organize, and create documentation required to execute production orders on the manufacturing floor.
- Provide technical assistance to machining and prototype efforts. Assist in building and integrating prototype components, subsystems and systems in test, engineering fit-up, and prototype build efforts for design verification.
- Help manage the successful transition of new products and technology from design into the production arena.
- Work with outside manufacturers to determine design specifications and necessary equipment, ensuring product delivery.
- As required, provide engineering support to sales/production teams, (i.e. designing equipment, supplying technical data for quotes/proposals).
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree - Engineering Technology or equivalent (not required but a plus).
- Experience related to mechanical design or fabrication of products is a plus.
- Experience with 2D modeling software (AutoCAD).
- Industry experience is desired, preferably in one or more of the following industries: automotive, heavy truck, military vehicle systems, armor manufacturing, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to become proficient in 2D & 3D modeling programs (AutoCad, SolidWorks) and have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicles and related systems.
- Knowledge of machining practices a plus.
- Ability to work with customers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns and provide project status.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced design and manufacturing environment with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and easily adapt to changing situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, both alone and in teams.
- Ability to make technical presentations.
- Must be meticulous, neat, organized, and have keen attention to details.

Physical Demands:
Includes desk and computer work associated with computer aided design. Prototyping activities require the following physical demands: significant lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling. The job is performed under some temperature variations.
Work Environment:
Work performed in a combination of manufacturing and office environment. Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils.
