Hardywood seeks a highly motivated brewer with expert knowledge of the brewing process to join our team to help create our diverse portfolio of beers from grain to glass!
The Brewer’s main responsibility is to ensure the execution of high quality wort in an efficient manner while following all protocols and specifications as provided. This position will ensure that the highest quality product is produced, while also performing cold-side duties involving the fermentation cellar, centrifuge operation, and Quality related functions.
This full-time position is based at the Hardywood West Creek location, operating on a four-vessel 60bbl Brau-Kon automated brewing system. This position reports to the Brewing Manager, with ultimate oversight by the Brewmaster.

Responsibilities
- Ability to follow daily/weekly Production Schedule and report any issues to the Brewing Manager
- Prioritizes tasks on a daily basis in order to complete the brews and cellar activities for each given day
- Actively works with both hot and cold-side systems and equipment
- Actively participates in yeast management program, and maintains availability to the Quality Manager for all matters related to Quality metrics
- Uses brewery management software/ERP system (Ekos) for all hot and cold side production movements, as well as for inventory management for raw ingredients
- Uses a variety of Google based documents for purposes of recording and tracking brewing data, as well as staying apprised of production schedules and personnel scheduling documents
- Actively contributes any proposed alternative processes or procedures in order to maintain the highest level of efficiency and quality as possible
- Participates in taking physical inventory of brewing materials: grain, hops, fruit, salts, additives, etc, and relays any perceived needs to the Brewing Manager
- Initiates and maintains a superior standard of facility sanitation and cleanliness.
- Participates in a “safety first” culture, and actively helps maintain a safe working environment
- Participates in the recipe development and improvement process
- Participates in taste / sensory panels
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
To be eligible for this position you must meet the requirements below:
- Two or more years of automated production brewing experience, preferably in the craft beer industry
- Expert-level knowledge of brewing techniques/equipment/cellar program/quality control measures
- Wood-cellar/Barrel-program experience a plus
- Mechanical inclination and handiness with tools a plus
- Experience with Ekos brewery management software a plus
- Exceptional time management/multitasking/prioritizing skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Functions extremely well in a team-based environment
