The Institutional Effectiveness (IE) department supports the College through applied research and technical expertise. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. The Data Scientist serves as an internal consultant, developing research solutions and overseeing internal and external reporting, including state and federal submissions, while ensuring compliance with FERPA and ethical research standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop business intelligence reports (Power BI)
- Design and deploy surveys
- Evaluate operational changes through research
- Acquire and analyze internal and external data
- Create reports and presentations
- Assist with compliance reporting (IPEDS, state submissions)
- Serve as a research and data expert on committees
- Train end-users on IE data resources
- Engage in collaborative problem-solving
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in statistical research, data extraction, analysis, and reporting
- Skills:
- Manage multiple compliance reporting projects
- Extract, merge, and transform data for analysis
- Work in cloud-based data warehouses (Azure/Snowflake)
- Consult with non-technical users to develop data solutions
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships
This in-person role requires residency in Maryland or a contiguous state (DE, PA, VA, WV, DC). Visa sponsorship is not available.
