THE OPPORTUNITY:
This position is responsible for directly handling or supervising casualty claims in suit or that present a significant claim exposure. The incumbent will manage defense counsel, provide technical support to the casualty unit, participate in complex exposure analysis and strategies, and subject matter expert to other business units outside the claims department.
LOCATION:
In-Person/Hybrid (Bel Air, MD Office)
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Technical oversight of complex casualty claims
- Direct claim handling of complex claims, typically in excess of $250,000.
- Actively coordinate claim file reviews with insured and agent.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to claims staff on complex casualty claims.
- Maintain lawsuit record keeping; Attend trials, settlement conferences and other discovery processes.
- Participates in complex exposure analysis and strategies.
- Monitor defense counsel adherence to litigation procedures.
- Negotiate settlements; Reduce and monitor number of open lawsuits.
- Devise and implement Alternative Dispute Mechanisms.
- Develop and implement litigation expense reduction methods.
- Perform field investigation where necessary.
- Review and establish appropriate reserves.
- Provide necessary information to reinsurers and affiliates.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Minimum four-year degree or comparable work experience; JD is a plus
- Minimum of 12 years industry experience
- Completion CPCU, AIC, SCLA or equivalent
- Knowledge and understanding of litigation process.
- Ability to understand and analyze insurance coverage.

Qualifications
Salary : $94,760 - $136,218
