What You'll Be Doing
Job Scope : The majority of workload for the Process Design Engineer (Front End Design Engineer) is focused on developing and delivering fit for purpose project designs. Throughout the life of the project this role is expected to fill the process engineering role for specific project deliverables including commissioning and start up support. Fixed equipment exchangers sizing (design) experience is preferred.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to :
- For ASSESS phase this role will lead the front-end development of basic data (process conditions, equipment specifications, scope, cost, project timeline and potential risks)
- Collaborate with the Project Cost Estimator and Project Engineer / Project Manager to develop an initial cost estimate
- Create the Basis of Design Document and complete a formalized handover to the projects group.
- Prepare mark ups of PFDs and P&IDs
- Perform competitive scoping exercises to determine value and scope of a project
- Develop the engineering scope of work to be performed by the engineering firms for the various stage gates.
- Is responsible for interacting with the technical team to deliver the final design. Ensures the design team provides the necessary data to finalize documentation as defined. Examples of PCAP deliverables include
- Feasibility Report
- Design sketches / options
- Basis for Design
- Process Flow Diagrams and Heat & Material Balance
- Line lists
- Necessary equipment data sheets
- Preliminary and final safeguarding studies
Ideal Background
Education : Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration : Professional Engineering registration or CPIP certification is highly preferred.
Experience : This position requires 5 years of relevant industrial experience in chemical, petroleum, or biochemical process design engineering.
