Job Title: Facilities Technician
Department: Facilities (BU100)
Status: Full Time – Non-Exempt
Reporting To: Facilities Engineering Supervisor
Position Purpose:
The Facilities Technician supports the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the Harland Medical Systems Eden Prairie facility.
This position will be involved in planning, estimating, and performing a variety of construction and maintenance projects throughout the building. This position will also repair (or coordinate the repair) and maintain facilities and equipment on a regular schedule and log various preventative maintenance and services performed.
The Facilities Technician is a hands-on position and requires continuous monitoring of the site including occasional on call support of second shift operations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with internal team members on floor plans, buildouts, remodel projects and re-organization of equipment and office furniture
- Adjust and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems throughout the building, including cleanrooms
- Work with outside contractors for service and repair beyond basic needs
- Perform commercial construction duties: framing, laying sheetrock, mudding, taping, painting, etc.
- Work with outside contractors on sourcing bids and quotes
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- Back up to housekeeping to gather and empty waste and recycling
- Service and supply specific areas of the facility. (e.g., first aid kits, fire extinguishers, AED, eye wash)
- Clean snow and debris from sidewalks as back up to landlord provided services
- Notify Safety Officer of any health and safety issues observed throughout the building
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings
- Assist Supervisor in reviewing facilities related invoices (e.g., contractors, utilities, waste removal, pest control, rug services)
- Perform other duties as required
Education, Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous construction experience required in framing, laying sheetrock, mudding, taping, painting, wiring, plumbing, etc.
- Attention to detail in aesthetics, for example:
- level hanging of whiteboards, posters, etc.
- noticing scratches, burnt out light bulbs, things that need touched up
- Experience working with manual and hand power tools.
- Mechanical problem-solving skills
- 1-year of Facilities Technician or related construction experience
- Must be a self-starter and manage themselves to a plan
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have the ability to take direction and follow plans
- Excellent customer facing skills (primarily internal customers)
- Must be able to organize, prioritize, and multi-task
- Verbal communication and attention to detail in communication is essential e.g., serial numbers, motor ratings, locations, etc.
- Basic computer skills, email, Microsoft Word, Excel
- Ability to use internet to research parts, tools, or supplies
- Ability to be available for urgent/emergency off hours building needs

- Employee is required to use appropriate PPE including, but not limited to, nitrile or latex gloves, lab coat, hair bonnet, shoe covers, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection, face shield, or respiratory mask while working in a lab or manufacturing space

Personnel engaged in manufacturing shall obtain training required by ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR part 820, FDA 21 CFR part 210 & 211, and Harland Medical System’s internal procedures, where deemed appropriate per assigned job functions.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on level surfaces for a prolonged period and navigate unlevel and uneven surfaces for short periods of time.
The employee is frequently required to talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms above shoulder height and below the waist. The employee frequently is required stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Using proper lifting techniques, the employee must be able to lift to 70 lbs. extend the weight and place up shelf, etc.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
