Job Title: Production Planner
Department: Manufacturing
Status: Full Time – Exempt
Reporting To: Business Unit Manager
Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for owning the development of production schedules to meet On Time Delivery expectations for our customers; assisting the Production Supervisor with capacity planning; approving and releasing manufacturing orders to the Production Team; monitoring production schedules and helping expedite the flow of purchase orders and sales orders through Salesforce to be available for production; assist Purchasing in scheduling incoming raw materials and outside processes, updating and monitoring all relevant data and schedules in the Salesforce system; assisting in the management of inventory levels. Maintaining and building working relationships between various departments and Business Units to help promote strong communication between our customers and our Manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities:
- Own the development, maintenance and control of the production schedules for two different business units
- Approve and release purchase and sales orders to the Production Team; expedite production orders through Salesforce to ensure ship dates are met, including communicating and facilitating issues to closure
- Update and monitor all relevant production planning data and production schedules in the Salesforce system to ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Work with multiple partners in Production, Demand, Purchasing, and Engineering across the organization
- Assist the Production Supervisor with capacity planning, including analyzing forecasts, customer orders and past history versus existing workforce, materials and equipment and determine availability and constraints
- Schedule incoming raw materials and assist purchasing in scheduling outside processes
- Assist in the management of inventory levels, including monitoring assigned inventory items to ensure both margin and production objectives are met
- Own, maintain, and update Daily Visual Management Boards for scheduling and material replenishment
- Initiate, review, and approve Change Orders as designated within document control system
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and initiate efforts to implement LEAN principles throughout the organization
- Prepare reports, presentations, and graphs with monthly operating summaries for planning and execution of meetings
- Participate in strategic projects to improve safety, quality, service, and cost through applications of continuous improvement methodologies
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a production environment
- Must be able to organize, prioritize, and multi-task.
- Must have skills in basic math, critical thinking and problem solving.
- Must have experience and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word
- Experience with CRM (i.e. Salesforce) and ERP systems.
- Communication and attention to detail is essential.
- Must be a self-starter and problem solver.
- Must have the ability to take directions and follow plans.
- Excellent customer facing skills (primarily internal customers)
- Excellent Team Player

- Employee is required to use appropriate PPE including, but not limited to, nitrile or latex gloves, lab coat, hair bonnet, shoe covers, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection, face shield, or respiratory mask while working in a lab or manufacturing space

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on level surfaces for a prolonged period of time. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms above shoulder height and below the waist. This position may occasionally be exposed to areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
