We’re seeking a Director of Humanities who shares our goal: to get all our scholars to and through college!
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
- Minimum 3 years of administrative/supervisory experience
- Proven ability to lead and improve programs, services, and activities
- Experience in school and district-level leadership
- New York State Teaching Certification in a Humanities content area, including English Language Arts (ELA), Social Studies, History, Literacy, or Humanities (preferred)
- New York State Teaching Certification (preferred)
Position Overview:
- Lead the support team to enhance the district’s Humanities program and career pathways for students.
- Develop and implement policies, programs, curricula, and budgets to foster student growth and professional development within the Humanities department.
- Collaborate with instructional staff and coaches to develop curriculum materials, instructional plans, and high-quality teaching practices.
- Oversee the K-12 Humanities intervention program.
- Determine appropriate valuations to measure student achievement, including benchmark assessments and interventions.
- Partner with other departments to drive district-wide Humanities initiatives.
- Provide regular reports on learning outcomes, program performance, equity planning, and assessments.
- Design and lead professional development workshops to enhance educator skills and improve school quality.
- Establish Humanities administrative flowcharts, OKRs, timelines, and budgets.
- Supervise literacy coaches.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the MD of Curriculum and Instruction.
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 7:40am – 4:00pm

The Director of Humanities salary ranges from $135,000-$150,000. Salaries are determined based on years of relevant experience, certification, and education level.
