We’re seeking an Elementary School Reading Specialist/Literacy Teacher who shares our goal: to get all our scholars to and through college.
Reading Specialist Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Literacy (Birth–Grade 6) or Reading (Birth–Grade 6)
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in an urban school setting
Position Overview:
- Provide targeted literacy interventions to our K-5 scholars, both individually and in small groups (approximately four students per session).
- Support teachers in conducting reading assessments and collecting and analyzing data to inform instruction.
- Use reading assessments to set student goals, monitor progress, and determine appropriate writing and reading intervention and support services.
- Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to align literacy instruction with the total curriculum.
- Develop clear evaluation criteria and communicate expectations to students.
- Provide supplemental literacy instruction during extended learning opportunities (Academic Hour/Saturday Academy).
Teacher Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 7:40am – 4:00pm
- 10-month school year with optional summer opportunities for additional pay

The Reading Specialist salary ranges from $71,000 - $145,000. Salaries are determined based on years of relevant experience, certification, and education level.
