Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission aligned Forensic Specialist to support our high school students.
The Forensic Specialist will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
The Forensic Specialist will join our team that provides a structured and engaging introduction to the active use of forensic science to our high school students. The ideal candidate will be able to expose students to designing forensic experiments through a designed curriculum and through a series of projects designed by the specialist. Additionally, the Forensic Specialist must be able to motivate and maintain the interest of students while setting a positive example, as well as, take a sincere, active, and appropriate interest in the well-being and success of all students.

Minimum Qualifications
- A commitment to the mission and programs of Harlem Children Children’s Zone.
- The Forensic instructor is responsible for teaching forensic instruction and facilitating an environment of learning.
Who you are
- Exceptional oral and communication skills.
- An innovative character that builds relationships with students.
- Oversee the progress of students from project-based learning.
- Create outreach activities and workshops that expose the students to forensic and STEM activities.
- Sophisticated classroom management skills.
- Teach students the necessary skills to succeed in the classroom.
What you’ll do
- Teach students how to analyze crime scenes and gather evidence.
- Create instruction that teaches students to determine evidence in a crime scene.
- Take photographs of a crime scene and use them to gather evidence for criminal investigations.
- Organize class activities that are relevant to the Forensic classroom- instruction, course material, and projects.
- Prepare forensic educational-based trips, and special events, and invite guest speakers to speak about Engineering
Schedule
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings
