Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Group Leader. This role will assist in developing and implementing program activities, lead pick-up of students from their school building and transporting them to the Harlem Grown after-school site. Maintain the day-to-day compliance of the After School Program. This includes homework assistance, recreational activities, leadership development, education and career development, health & life skills, the arts, and urban farm education. Also maintain rules and regulations while always keeping the children’s need highest priority.
Responsibilities
Prepare Youth for Success
- Lead student pick-up from local Public Schools to Harlem Grown after-school site
- Assist with prep and delivery of activities that prepare youth for academic success. (i.e.: Homework Help)
- Maintain the area environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
- Teach and/or co-teach engaging, age-appropriate programs for children and their families in our partner schools, on our farms, and at community-based organizations
- Collaborate with the Education Program Manager and other Educators to plan and execute Saturday programming
Program Implementation
- Assist in planning and implementation of services and activities such as urban farming, sustainability, leadership development, etc.
- Support with behavior management during program operation.
Supervision
- Always supervise the After School Program students in all areas of the site, while in the care of the program to ensure their health and safety.
- Serve as a role model for youth and reinforce Harlem Grown’s values of honesty, respect, and responsibility
- Work as a team member to support Harlem Grown initiatives and programs
Basic Qualifications:
- HS Diploma
- 1-2 year’s experience working with children
- 1-2 years' experience working in an after school setting
- Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
