The Client

They are seeking an exceptional Controller to manage their financial operations and ensure that creativity and profitability coexist seamlessly.
The Role
As the Controller, you will be the financial backbone of the agency, overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for ensuring the agency’s financial health while supporting its creative vision. You’ll manage all aspects of financial reporting and compliance, drive operational efficiencies, and partner with the leadership team to align financial processes with the agency’s goals. This position is crucial in balancing the agency’s bold creative initiatives with sound financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with industry standards.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with creative and operational teams to ensure financial targets are met while supporting creative flexibility.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure the agency’s financial operations are streamlined and aligned with both creative needs and business objectives.
- Monitor project profitability, providing actionable insights and recommendations to improve financial outcomes without stifling creative processes.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and creative teams to develop financial strategies that support the agency’s growth and strategic vision.
- Manage cash flow, ensuring the business has sufficient working capital to support ongoing creative projects and operational needs.
- Implement and maintain financial controls, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Supervise and mentor a small finance team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with the agency’s goals.
- Oversee the integration of financial technologies and tools that streamline processes and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Provide ongoing financial analysis, highlighting key performance indicators, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Deep knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, with the ability to ensure accuracy and provide actionable insights.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and best practices in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel) and reporting tools.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a finance team.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both financial and creative teams, translating complex financial concepts into clear insights that inform decision-making.
Bonus Skills (Non-essential but desirable):
- Experience with project management or creative agency financial systems.
- CPA or other advanced certifications in accounting or finance.
- Familiarity with the entertainment or advertising industry’s financial practices.
- Experience with M&A and integrating new financial systems post-acquisition.
Salary: $240,000 - $270,000
