The Client
Harmonic are proud to have been retained by a rapidly growing VC Backed Biotech start-up. They sit somewhere between a Biotech and an AI business developing an advanced platform to improve drug development in a range of major disease and virus classes.
They are due to announce one of the largest Series A fundraises in Biotech history (in excess of $300m) and are backed by 4 of the top 5 VC investors in the world.
Our client has a genuinely values led culture with an incredibly bright leadership team. Founded by award winning doctors and AI industry leaders they are now building out their leadership team.
The Role :
Reporting to an experienced CFO, the VP Controller will of Finance will own the build out of the Accounting and Controllership function. Taking responsibility for shaping and implementing accounting processes, systems that will create a best in class Accounting function preparing for a period of huge growth.
Responsibilities :
- Build and implement accounting processes ensuring robust controls and compliance with US GAAP
- Lead and manage the monthly close process
- Prepare financial reports with detailed analysis for multiple internal stakeholders and executives
- Oversee year end reporting implementing standards and the annual audit process
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards including tax filings
- Implement software and systems to drive efficient month end and financial reporting
- In the mid term establish processes in compliance with SEC reporting standards as the business prepares to IPO
- Partner closely with HR to support on benefits and comp based accounting needs
- Work closely with R&D and Operations teams to develop procurement processes
- Support the CFO with the Accounting treatment for stock options and business valuation (409a)
- Support cash flow forecasting working closely with FP&A
- Build, lead and manage a high performing team

Salary : $220,000 - $320,000 bonus share options

Location : San Francisco Bay Area (Hybrid model and will consider exceptional remote first candidates)
