Description
The AM/PM Houseman is responsible for:
- The AM Houseman is responsible to provide general cleaning inside and outside of the building, place dumpsters for collection, pulling linen and garbage from the guestrooom corridors, patrols grounds and garage parking areas, wash windows, stocks Room Attendant closets and carts and performs special cleaning projects as assigned.
- The PM Houseman provides general cleaning inside and outside of the building, picks up any remaining linen and garbage from guestroom corridors, patrols grounds and garage parking areas, wash windows, stocks Room Attendant closets and carts and performs special cleaning projects as assigned. Housemen may be called upon to work as need arises to meet short term, temporary staffing shortages.
- Additionally, both AM and PM Housemen will be cross-trained to work either shift.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The AM/PM Houseman’s primary responsibilities will include:
- AM Houseman is responsible for the following AM specific duties:
- Position all dumpsters on the street for collection at the scheduled pick-up time, returning same to their proper on site receiving station
- Patrols hotel's exterior grounds removing all litter and debris first thing each morning, prior to 7:00 AM daily.
- Hoses and/or sweeps front entry driveway, stairs, sidewalk and main door threshold where applicable before 7:00 AM
- Makes sure that all ground floor street front windows and doors are cleaned
- Supports the Room Attendant teams by removing bagged garbage from the guest corridors, taking same to the dumpster(s)
- Supports the Laundry Attendants by removing dirty linen from the guest corridors, taking same to the Laundry Department
- PM Houseman is responsible for the following PM specific duties:
- Pick up any remaining dirty linen and garbage from the guest corridors
- Wash all beachfront windows
- Stock all Room Attendant closets with fresh linens, terry, amenities, guest and cleaning supplies
- Stock all Room Attendant carts with fresh linens, terry, amenities, guest and cleaning supplies
- Stock all Team Captain's carts with supplies and house wares
- Patrols hotel's exterior grounds removing all litter and debris just before end of shift.
- Empty all public area garbage cans thrice daily at a minimum
- Houseman may be assigned to work in the capacity of a Room Attendant, Assistant Room Attendant and/or Public Area Attendant should a short term staffing shortage occur and will be cross trained accordingly.
- The Houseman will perform special cleaning projects as assigned.
- Reports any ‘non-guest’ suspicious activity to the Head Houseman or closest hotel supervisor.
- Reports any safety issues to the Head Houseman to be handled by the hotels Safety Committee.
- Reports any missing or damage items or building conditions to the Head Houseman who will initiate a work order.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITY
- Good attitude in dealing with staff and hotel guests alike.
- Ability to speak English preferred.
- Good work ethic and practice.

- Experience – No prior experience necessary.
