Director of Development and Community Engagement
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Work is performed with the supervision of the Assistant Director. The Director of Development and Community Engagement is responsible for generating financial support for the programs and operations of the Cabell-Huntington Coalition for the Homeless and for managing the administrative aspects of development, marketing, and public relations activities. The person in this role is also responsible for engaging volunteers and community organizations and facilitating their involvement in the mission of Harmony House.
DUTIES
· Develop and implement annual fundraising plan.
· Develop and implement marketing plan.
· Assist with development and implementation of sustainability plan.
· Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
· Maintain donor database and record of gifts.
· Develop and maintain relationships with major donors.
· Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors.
· Oversee organization of special events.
· Develop and track proposals and reports for foundation and corporate fundraising.
· Oversee annual appeal.
· Create development and marketing materials.
· Manage fundraising campaigns and activities.
· Identify and cultivate prospective donors.
· Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
· Knowledge of all Coalition programs, services, and policies.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, clients, and peers in other agencies.
· Strong leadership skills and the ability to quickly build rapport.
· Ability to organize, coordinate, and prioritize assignments and prepare and maintain written reports or activities.
· Ability to work independently. Must be able to function as a team member.
· Strong public-speaking skills.
· Ability to adapt and make rational decisions quickly.
· Abide by all personnel policies, as stated in the Harmony House Employee Handbook
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Experience in fundraising or marketing is required.
Valid driver’s license required.
