JOB GOAL
Under direct supervision, performs standard secretarial duties.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of HPS discipline procedures
- Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides support to Dean of Students/Assistant Principal in student discipline.
- Prepares all correspondence including letters, memorandums, agendas, reports, minutes, and other documents.
- Maintains calendar and schedules appointments as needed.
- Make and answers related calls, records messages, and re-directs inquiries to the appropriate individual.
- Maintains office filing system.
- Copies, faxes, and files correspondence as requested.
- Assists with related data input.
- Communicates with parents and key stakeholders as directed by the Dean of Students/Assistant Principal. Takes and transcribes dictation.
- Supervises the in school suspension room when students assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
- Ability to use effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of child and adolescent behavior issues and psychology
- Ability to identify problems and proactively find solutions
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
- Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
- Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
- Moderate travel is required.
