Health Aide

JOB GOAL: Responsible for implementation of health programs, health counseling with pupils, parents, and school personnel, provision of preventive health services and acute care, augmentation of health education programs, and liaison with the school community.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o High School Diploma or GEDo Minimum 1 year of experience in the field (preferred)o Valid Texas Medical Assistant Certification (preferred)o CNA, EMT, or LVN licensure (preferred)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: o Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.o Participates in the formulation of campus health program goals and objectives.o Provides direct health care, emergency first aid and care, and related health services according to HPS policies andprocedures.o Provides preventive health care by: providing appraisals, screening programs, referral and follow-up; recognizing,reporting, and using control measures on communicable diseases; and monitoring and providing follow-up onimmunization needs.o Provides families with information on health and medical resources and assists families to access medical care.o Conducts health counseling, makes home visits, and follows through on health problems as needed.o Conducts instruction on bleeding control, dental and developmental health, cpr and other health topics as needed forstudents, parents, and staff and serves as a resource to staff regarding health instruction.o Maintains and submits Student Immunization Records to Department of State Health Serviceso Contacts parents regarding Immunization requirementso Performs state mandated student screenings and submits results to Department of State Health Serviceso Performs other duties as assigned.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and externalto the district.o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software,calculator, copy machine and telephone.o Ability to analyze data and generate reports.o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skillsWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.o Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.o Moderate travel is required.
