What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Counselor- Substance Use Disorders position at Harmony Recovery?
Additional pay will be provided for substance related certifications
Flexibility to work on site in Estes Park Monday, Tuesday, and Friday as well as conduct virtual sessions remotely Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Primary Function: Provide education and support to client family members/significant others regarding the disease of addiction and the process of recovery.
Essential Functions:
- In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services, participate in the development of family programming and services.
- Serve as a support and mediator to facilitate positive interactions in virtual Family Peer Support groups.
- Facilitate clinically focused sessions regarding addiction and family dynamics in virtual Family Engagement & Educations groups.
- Champion the integration of family members in client recovery to achieve desired outcomes and treatment goals.
- Initiate contacts with client and family members to aid in the integration of care.
- Foster an understanding for clients, families, and other stakeholders of addiction within the context of the family system.
- Routinely provide therapeutic treatment, behavior modification, and stress management tools to clients and families.
- Lead Recovery Skills sessions specific to the interplay of addiction and recovery within family systems.
- As needed, provide services to clients in various programs (Detox, Lodge, Swickard).
- Prepare and complete all necessary documentation and record keeping in a timely and accurate manner according to state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge and adhere to Harmony policies and procedures.
- Participate as an effective and contributing member of the Counseling team.
- Demonstrate knowledge and competency related to confidentiality and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
- Attend continuing education classes when possible and apply knowledge learned to work at Harmony. Share knowledge with co-workers.
- Adheres to confidentiality laws including 42CFR Part 2, HIPAA and HITECH as well as all Harmony policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to establish a therapeutic alliance with clients.
- Working knowledge of DSM-5 criteria.
- Ability to effectively utilize systemic approaches to therapy to include psychoanalytic, humanistic/existential, structural, strategic, and multicultural.
- Skilled in one or more evidence-based therapeutic modalities including but not limited to: cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
- Proven advanced skills in crisis management.
- Ability to promote wellbeing in family systems through teaching and motivation.
- Personal maturity reflected by sound judgment and decision-making.
- Ability to relate with detachment and empathy to clients and families.
- Skilled in working effectively with colleagues across the organization.
- Demonstrated awareness of scope of expertise and ethical requirements to refer mental health issues to appropriate staff or external resources.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
- Flexibility to work on-site and virtually in a therapeutic setting with routine day and evening work shifts.

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
