What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Accounting position at Harmony Senior Services?
The Director of Accounting will be responsible for performing accounting support functions to all entities within the Harmony Senior Services managed companies. The primary purpose of this position is to provide management with financial information by accurately maintaining accounting records and files, researching and analyzing accounts and preparing accurate ad hoc investor and internal reports.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
. Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
. Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
. Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; managing cash
. Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
. Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
. Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
. Analyses and prepares report(s) for explanations for any month over month variations to the budget.
. Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
. Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
. Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
. Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
. Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
. Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
. Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; Master's degree in business, finance or related field preferred; CPA a plus.
. (5 ) years accounting and finance experience with a growing company; (3 ) years progressive work experience in a Leadership role.
. Familiarity with accounting/bookkeeping software (Yardi Senior Platform)
. Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point)
. General accounting knowledge, including capital account maintenance for partnerships
. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines
. Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
. Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
. Ability to work well in a team environment that promotes inclusiveness and communication among team members
