Harmony Biosciences is recruiting for a Director, Patient Advocacy & Engagement in our Washington, DC location. In this role you will maintain strong relationships with the patient community and patient advocacy groups to enhance the individualized approach to patient care and commitment to providing access for those with unmet medical needs that defines Harmony’s core value of keeping patient communities at the heart of all we do. The Director will also provide the voice of the patient to business critical internal cross-functional workstreams, supporting our commitment to the patient communities we are working to serve.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Lead meaningful relationship engagement with rare neurological patient advocacy organizations and key thought leaders to ensure productive ongoing partnerships based on shared objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical Operations & Development teams to understand pipeline goals and develop supportive patient engagement strategies.
  • Drive presence at relevant advocacy organization events and meetings and share key learnings with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate corporate leadership engagements with key advocacy groups and patient community thought leaders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional key internal stakeholders including Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Market Research & Insights, Patient Marketing and other relevant internal partners.
  • Identify opportunities for internal education (fireside chats, advisory boards) on areas of interest for internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage an advocacy sponsorship budget and process for external funding requests.
  • Ensure compliance in interactions with patient advocates, patients, families and caregivers, professional societies, Health Care Providers, and clinical researchers per internal and external guidelines.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 8 years in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry, with 5 years driving advocacy engagements, programs and / or budgets required; Experience in rare neurological diseases, specifically sleep disorder and / or epilepsy experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to influence in a proactive, objective and diplomatic manner within all levels of the company and outside community leaders
  • Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft systems.
  • Physical demands and work environment :

  • International and domestic travel is estimated to be 30% of the time for this position; valid US Passport or ability to obtain required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include : Close vision.
  • Manual dexterity required to use computers, tablets, and cell phone.
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods.
