Occupational Therapist Role
The Occupational Therapist assists the physician in evaluating a patient's level of function and develops a plan of treatment after consulting with the patient's family.
The Occupational Therapist guides and instructs patients in prescribed therapeutic, self-care, and creative activities to improve independence and physical and mental functioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and consult with patients and their families on the use of prosthetic, orthotic, assistive devices, and adaptive equipment
- Participate in Performance Improvement Activities and discharge planning
Requirements
A graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education, Accreditation of the American Medical Association, and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
