POSITION SUMMARY
POSITION SUMMARY:
An employee in this position fingerprints, photographs and collects all biographical information for the completion of processing individuals in the criminal justice information system. Employees in this classification perform booking services to all law enforcement agencies within the County on a 24 hours basis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Fingerprints, photographs and collects biographical information on all individuals brought in by all local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
- Fingerprints all applicants which have applied for concealed weapon permits, employment, all day care workers and foster parent applicants.
- Prepares daily fingerprint cards to send to the State Bureau of Investigation.
- Maintains daily log of individuals fingerprinted.
- Performs criminal record checks on individuals brought in under arrest.
- Maintains high standards of accuracy in performing duties and responsibilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Related experience, preferably in fingerprinting and photography;
- Or equivalent education and/or experience;
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license; and
- Must have O.C. Spray and DCI certifications;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of Harnett County as such pertains to the performance of the essential duties of Booking/Intake Technician.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of booking and collecting appropriate information for processing individuals in the criminal justice information system.
- Knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Knowledge of the organization of the department, and of related departments and agencies.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and adheres to any safety precautions inherent in performing the essential functions of the work.
- Knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertains to work responsibilities.
- Skill in attention to detail by maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to initiate appropriate and acceptable action for the completion of work with a minimum of supervision and instruction.
- Ability to exercise analytical judgment in areas of responsibility.
- Ability to identify issues or situations as they occur and specifies decision objectives.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to perform light work exerting in excess of 20 pounds occasionally and in some cases to move objects. The work also involves the physical abilities of stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, and pushing. An incumbent must also possess the ability to participate in oral communication. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and require visual perception and discrimination. Tasks may risk exposure to disease and/or violence. This position may also require the ability to perform coordinated movements in operating office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is subject to the usual hazards of law enforcement work.
