Income Maintenance Caseworker Supervisor II-Child Care/WFFA Units

Harnett County's Department of Social Services is currently recruiting for an Income Maintenance Supervisor II responsible for carrying administrative and supervisory tasks for the Work First, Energy and Child Care units. This employee is responsible for ensuring staff members are adequately prepared to perform their duties, organizing and directing work, setting work standards, adhering to county and agency personnel policies and procedures, following state and federal program regulations, and assuring clients are served in an efficiently and timely manner.

• Plans, coordinates and manages the activities of the Unit's staff.
• Interprets federal and state policies relating to program eligibility.
• Plans short and long-term work operations.
• Ensures adherence to federal and state standards regarding timelines.
• Recommends changes based upon experience in assigned area to departmental administration for more effective delivery of programs for which responsibility is exercised.
• Coaches staff on time management and policy updates.
• Assesses staff training needs.
• Reviews staff performance through evaluations.
• Communicates with other agency units, government units, community groups, and interested citizens regarding programs.
• Advises subordinates in regard to unusual administrative or client problems.
• Screens, interviews, and recommends selection of prospective employees. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
 

• Considerable knowledge of public assistance programs, policies, eligibility requirements and income maintenance manuals.
• General knowledge of all agency programs and services.
• Considerable knowledge of needs and problems of disadvantaged persons. 
• General knowledge of community services and programs, which could affect the client/applicant.  
• Good mathematical, reasoning, and computational skills. 
• Ability to instruct, organize, direct, and supervise employees. 
• Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, applicants, and community agencies to obtain pertinent data and to interpret rules and regulations. 

Education and Experience:
High School or General Education Diploma (GED) and three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensing and Certifications:
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.Successful completion of a drug screening and criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment.
