POSITION SUMMARY:
An employee in this position assists in coordinating and supervising athletic events at Harnett County Parks. The Park Supervisor is an employee of the Harnett County Parks and Recreation Department and thus represents the County.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also involves the physical abilities of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and perform repetitive motions. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to maintain records and reports.

The employee typically works in an inside or outside environment.

- Serves as the point of contact for all on-site game officials.
- Serves as the on-site County representative for players and coaches (if Recreation Program Supervisor is not present).
- Must be able to drive and operate a vehicle to travel as needed.
- Checks that fields have been set-up properly and make necessary repairs if needed.
- Inspects the playing area to ensure the field is safe for competition.
- Settles any disputes that may arise between players, officials, or fans.
- Follows and enforces league rules.
- Ejects any player or fan that is creating an unruly/unsafe environment or has broken league
- rules
- Makes on-site decision of any game cancellations due to weather or any forfeitures.
- Communicates with and notifies the Recreation Program Supervisor of any ejections, game cancellations, hazards, etc.
- Manages the opening and closing of on-site restrooms and concession stand.
- Turns on field lights when needed, as well as turns off field lights when activities have ended.
- Picks up trash on grounds and places in trash receptacles.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Assists patrons with Concession Stand and reports inventory to Recreation Program Supervisor
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- One (1) year of related experience;
- Or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Ability to report for work on time and notify the Parks and Recreation Department in advance if unable to work.
- Ability to handle inquiries and problems efficiently.
- Ability to work independently as well as adhere to oral and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise considerable tact, compassion and courtesy in frequent contact with the general public.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
- Ability to maintain accurate timesheets and submit them to the Recreation Program Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with evening work required.
