We are collaborating with a global private equity firm that has a strong footprint in real estate, credit platforms, and financial services. They are focused on harnessing AI and automation to strengthen risk analysis, enhance fraud detection, and improve operational efficiency.

As they expand their AI capabilities, they are looking for a Director of ML to establish and lead an AI function that integrates LLMs with financial risk models, advances credit assessment automation, and refines fraud detection strategies.

THE ROLE

This position will spearhead the company’s AI & automation initiatives, driving innovative machine learning solutions to optimize credit risk assessment, underwriting, and fraud detection. You will define the AI roadmap, build and lead a high-performing team, and collaborate closely with executive leadership and key stakeholders—all while staying technically hands-on.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and deploy AI-driven solutions for fraud detection, risk management, and financial automation.
• Design AI-powered credit risk assessment and underwriting models to enhance decision-making.
• Player/coach model working technically hands-on while leading team strategy
• Integrate ChatGPT and LLMs with internal financial risk models for more accurate and explainable insights.
• Recruit, manage, and mentor a growing AI team.
• Work alongside C-level executives, risk teams, and IT departments to embed AI solutions into core business processes.
• Translate complex AI concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Azure, and related technologies.

YOUR BACKGROUND

• Proven experience in AI/ML within financial services, consulting, or related industries.
• Expertise in leveraging AI for fraud detection, risk modeling, or financial automation.
• A technical leader with hands-on experience in AI model development and deployment.
• Strong leadership experience in AI-driven business transformations.
• A player-coach mentality—proficient in coding and model building while also leading and mentoring a team.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining AI strategies to non-technical audiences.
