Harper Brothers Construction is a full-service civil construction company specializing in large site infrastructure, underground, and road work. We are currently looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist.
Accounts Payable Specialist
This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties in the accounts payable department including processing payments, paying invoices, and resolving payment issues with vendors.
Accountabilities:
- Process invoices using various methods including excel uploads, scanning and purchase order matching, and manual keying.
- Robust understanding of job cost accounting and finance operations.
- Handle Accounts Payable functions for different entities by processing and matching invoices with purchase orders via three-way match.
- Process weekly payments including checks, ACH, and wires.
- Communicate with internal and external customers concerning past due invoices and resolving in a timely manner with excellent customer service.
- Work with vendors to research and resolve issues ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Review and reconcile key vendor statements weekly, resolving any discrepancies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Associates Degree in Accounting or like field, preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in construction.
- Strong computer skills, advanced skills in Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Viewpoint is preferred but not required.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive to provide quality service.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Mandatory overtime during month end close and special projects, required.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to communicate issues to all levels of management.
