Job Title: Weld Department Lead
Summary:
The Weld Department Lead plays a key role in supporting the Weld Department Supervisor by overseeing daily welding operations, ensuring team efficiency, and maintaining quality and safety standards. This position serves as a bridge between welders and leadership, helping to implement best practices, support continuous improvement, and provide hands-on guidance to the team. The Weld Department Lead works closely with the Weld Department Supervisor to ensure smooth operations, address challenges, and uphold high-quality production standards.

- Physical ability to stand, squat, kneel, and climb for extended periods and lift 50 lbs
- Ability to perform weld inspections and support welder certifications
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Responsibilities:
- Act as a point of contact for welders, ensuring they have the tools, materials, and support needed to meet production goals
- Assist the Weld Department Supervisor in coordinating daily workflows, prioritizing tasks, and monitoring progress
- Provide hands-on support, troubleshooting weld defects, and ensuring adherence to AWS welding standards
- Conduct weld inspections and verify that weld quality meets internal and external requirements
- Lead by example in safety compliance, enforcing PPE usage and OSHA regulations
- Support training and development efforts, including mentoring new welders and assisting with certification programs
- Assist in problem-solving and root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions to improve efficiency
- Collaborate with Material Handlers and Production Leaders to ensure smooth material flow and minimal downtime
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, including cross-training and efficiency enhancements
- Step in as needed to lead team meetings and relay key information
from leadership
- Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule/Salary:
- 40 hour work week; Saturdays may be required
- Overtime as needed with manager pre-approval
