Overview
HarperCollins is seeking a Senior Publicist to join our dynamic General Books Group publicity team! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work independently on a variety of titles for all imprints within the Harper Group.
This is a hybrid position based out of our New York City office.
Responsibilities
- Develops individual, targeted publicity campaigns for assigned titles.
- Writes press releases and creative pitch letters for each campaign.
- Pitches and books media coverage for authors/titles to print, radio, online/digital, podcasts, and TV outlets.
- Orchestrates book tours and creative off-site events.
- Actively develops and maintains national, regional, and local media contacts.
- Works closely with the marketing, sales, online marketing, and editorial departments.
- Manages the publicity budget for assigned titles.
- Crafts and delivers pitches and news releases to media outlets.
- Provides feedback on publicity potential of book proposals.
- Identifies opportunities for our authors/titles via various media outlets.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years prior experience in Publicity, with an emphasis placed on booking top-line media in both traditional and digital outlets and author tours
- Excellent communication skills, including writing effective media pitches
- Experience working on fiction and nonfiction campaigns
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and creative thinking skills
- Capable of managing budgets, booking tours and special events
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- A college degree or equivalent experience

The salary range for this position is $57,000-$73,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
