Description
The Harpeth Hall School seeks a part-time upper school learning specialist. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, student-centered professional with an enthusiasm for working with high school students in an all-girls environment. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience as a learning specialist working with high school students. A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience and a master’s degree are preferred. Harpeth Hall is committed to being an inclusive school community, and we seek educators who embrace our school values and who are dedicated to equity in all aspects of learning. This position is part-time (between 40% and 60%, depending on the needs of the candidate) for the 2025 - 26 academic year and will include teaching a Study Strategies class to 9th grade students and working with another learning specialist who will also be part-time. This position begins August 1, 2025.
JOB DUTIES
- Work with students, their parents, and their teachers when needs arise in the academic setting to provide individualized solutions for enhanced learning performance.
- Provide referrals for students and their families when outside support is needed, including evaluations, therapies, or tutors.
- Work with students and families with diagnosed learning needs to determine support and provide an Educational Plan with accommodations. Serve as a liaison between teachers, students, and families in the coordination of the plan
- When qualifications are met, prepare College Board and ACT applications for accommodations
- Supervise and coordinate our peer tutoring program
- Teach classes in study strategies to 9th grade students
- Attend weekly and monthly meetings in collaboration with support staff
- Meet with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide study skills and strategies
- Stay active in professional development and provide updated educational information to both families and faculty
