Team Leader- Harriet Tubman Village Charter School- Expanded Learning Opportunities Program
Position Title: Extended Day Program Leader
Location Harriet Tubman Village Charter School
Hours: Part Time, 20 hours a week (hours varies) PM program: M, T, TH, F: 2:00-6:00PM, W: 12:30-6:00PM.
Salary: $20.50 - 22.00/hr.
Essential Functions
Communication
- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with school site, parents, children and HTVCS staff
- Communicate with parents regarding their child on a daily basis
Agency Leadership:
- Follow policies in own role which are determined by others; no responsibility and leadership required for service development, but may be required to comment on policies, procedures, or possible developments
Job Complexity:
- Supervise day-to-day activities of the program while maintaining ratios within contract (20:1)
- Redirect inappropriate child behavior and provide disciplinary action and notify Program Director when necessary
- Provide academic homework assistance
Accountability:
- Maintain a clean and orderly designated school space
-Check and File team rosters daily
-Scan in/out students in program using city span scan system (when needed)
- Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students enrolled in the program
Decision Making:
- Judgments and decisions are guided by HTVCS and program policies, contracts and guidelines
Staff Supervision:
- Ordinarily, no supervisory responsibility except occasional project based work
Minimum Competencies:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must pass CAPE test (within 60 days of hire) or have a minimum of 48 completed college units (provide a transcript within 60 days of hire)
- A minimum of 6 month’s experience working and/or volunteering in an after school or group child care setting with elementary aged children
- Valid Child, Adult, and Infant CPR and First Aid certification (within 30 days of hire)
- Demonstrated ability in sports, special interests and hobbies, and/or arts & crafts
- Ability to relate well to children and adults
- Must pass TB and Fingerprint Clearance upon hire
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to operate a computer
- Frequent repetitive hand use and simple grasping
- Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above, and below the shoulder
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
-Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to operate a vehicle
- High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks
- Ability to work in noisy and outdoor environments
- Occasional travel in San Diego Office of Education
