What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher/ Case Manager position at Harriet Tubman Village Charter School?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:.
Ability to administer formal and informal assessment.
Create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students qualifying for special education services in consultation with other IEP team members (e.g. parents, general education teachers, and other related service providers.
Implement behavior management techniques as appropriate to student IEPs.
Ability to create special education schedules to provide Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) to students with IEPs
Provide accommodations for students with individual needs to encourage learning and success
Identifies and supports students’ social, emotional and behavior learning needs
Implements Project-based Learning techniques and strategies
Facilitates and designs effective group work amongst students
Collaborate with general education teachers to design instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculum and the student’s IEP goals to implement in the general education classroom.
Case manage a caseload to ensure proper implementation of the IEP and adherence to IEP timelines.
Maintain and update student data in SEIS and in the Special Education file.
Monitor student progress by using data collection during progress reports to support research-based instruction and to demonstrate student achievement.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with all school personnel, parents, other agencies for the best interests of each student.
Attend special education team meetings, Professional Learning Community meetings (PLCs), and professional development trainings.
Keep up to date knowledge of Special Education instruction, practices, and law in order to provide appropriate Special Education recommendations and services.
Perform other duties as assigned

ABILITY TO:
Establish and maintain cooperative a Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree, including all courses to meet special education credential requirements.
California Education Specialist Mild to Moderate Credential as established by the state and local governing boards.
Master’s degree in Special Education preferred
Salary : $59,979 - $122,650
