Position: Speech and Language Pathologist
Location: Harrington Elementary School
General Description: This opening is for a Speech-language pathologist to provide appropriate speech- language services to students as assigned. The SLP will work with students who exhibit the full range of communication disorders, including those involving language, social pragmatics, articulation (speech sound disorders), fluency, voice/resonance, and/or swallowing. The candidate will offer assistance in addressing the linguistic and metalinguistic foundations of curriculum learning for students with disabilities,
- Collaborate with school personnel, such as teachers and psychologists, to best meet the needs of all students.
- Collect and maintains data for program planning and decision-making regarding planning for students.
- Support data-based decision making by gathering and interpreting data related to individual student performance as well as overall program success.
- Complete comprehensive speech-language evaluations for assigned students & writes assessment reports including appropriate educational recommendations.
- Analyze and interpret information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services
- Write IEP goals & objectives for identified students.
- Attend and participate in Team meetings.
- Determine the effects of the student’s impairment in regard to accessing the general curriculum.
- Provide intervention that is appropriate to the age and learning needs of individual students and is selected through an evidence-based decision- making process.
- Design school-wide speech- language services that employ a continuum of service delivery models in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities and that they integrate services to other students as appropriate.
- Promote effective interpersonal relations with students and parents/guardians.
- Writes quarterly progress reports based on student therapy data.
- Determines needs for referrals, collaborates and consults with audiologist/teacher of the deaf regarding hearing services.
- Perform other duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
