Seasonal Outdoor Security Guard

Job Summary

Responsible for the safety and security of the employees, customers, assets and facilities operated by the Casino on the Fairgrounds. Communicates potential problems and assists employees and guests in emergencies. Promotes positive public and employee relations. Controls entrance points by limiting access to authorized individuals only. Undertakes related security functions by responding to emergency and safety concerns of all outside points on the Fairgrounds. Performs other duties as assigned. Position report time is 1pm and ends at 9pm or until last race has occurred from Monday through Wednesday. This position requires you to work during the Delaware State Fair and times will vary due to State Fair business conditions.

• Controls and limits access to restricted areas.
• Ensures that proper security is provided for all Video lottery facility.
• Stands, sits, walks post as assigned.
• Responds to back-up calls immediately and assists with medical or other emergency situations as required.
• Prepares reports of significant activities.
• Maintains radio contact with base at all times during assigned shift.
• Attends periodic meetings and training sessions.

PHYSICAL – Must be in good physical condition. Essential functions require ability to provide assistance to Guests and fellow employees, which will include lifting or restraining, and ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, lift and reach continuously during the workday. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 250 lbs. with assistance.

MENTAL -- Ability to make quick decisions. Ability to follow established policies and procedures and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

• No felony convictions
• Be able to obtain Harness Racing License
