What are the responsibilities and job description for the Editorial Content Manager position at Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment Career Center?
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Philadelphia 76ers Editorial Content Manager will lead and execute strategy for the team’s Editorial vertical with a focus on written articles, including but not limited to long form human-interest features, organizational events and breaking news.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE BELOW:
- Assist in all aspects of storytelling efforts through digital content
- Educate fans on the people and tentpole events within the Philadelphia 76ers network
- Ideate and research stories – regarding team/player performance and/or miles stones, organizational events, and historical recaps
- Source and schedule interviews with broadcasters, analysts, historians, and family and friends as required
- Work closely with Digital Marketing to fulfill website and app content deliverables
- Work closely with Communications/PR staff to ensure accurate messaging on all news items and articles
- Manage a team consisting of full-time staff as well as part-time/seasonal staff
- Serve as on-air talent for podcasts and sponsored deliverables as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience creating and researching Editorial content in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of posting content and articles to websites via WordPress or similar CMS
- Must be able to work collaboratively across different departments
- Experience applying SEO best practices when posting content (preferred)
- Previous experience managing staff (preferred)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Travel Requirements: May be required to travel on rare occasions (<5% travel); trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay for one or more nights.
- Work Environment: This position is based out of our Camden, NJ office, but attendance at games at the Wells Fargo Center and various events in Philadelphia and surrounding areas may be required.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift or move items up to 10 pounds.
