The Harris County District Attorneys Office is currently hiring purpose-driven practitioners ready to serve the citizens of Harris County.
There are opportunities for ALL levels of experience from law students preparing to take the Texas Bar Exam to experienced prosecutors seeking a new challenge. Newly licensed attorneys will generally be assigned to serve in our Misdemeanor Division. Experienced attorneys have the opportunity to serve in our Divisions handling felony cases, including specialized areas, such as Crimes against Children and Human Trafficking, as well as our newly created Mental Health and Diversions, Domestic Violence and Homicide Bureaus.

YOUR DUTIES
As a Harris County Assistant District Attorney you will represent the State of Texas and the citizens of Harris County in criminal proceedings in the District, County and Family Courts of Harris County. On a daily basis you will be expected to:
- Work as a team player in a collaborative environment
- Interact and consult with Law Enforcement at various stages from a suspects arrest through the disposition of the case
- Interview and assist victims and witnesses of crime through all stages of a case
- Communicate and negotiate with the defense bar
- Evaluate cases to determine the proper outcome to achieve justice, which may include a plea agreement, diversion, dismissal or trial
- Prepare cases for contested matters including jury trials
- Present evidence and advocate to a jury or trier of fact
- Grow as an attorney and advocate while mentoring junior prosecutors
OUR COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary for a misdemeanor level prosecutor starts at $93,100 and salaries for felony level prosecutors range from $98,467 to $149,635 based on experience level and assignment. Opportunities for supplemental pay are available to all attorneys.
