POSITION SUMMARY:
The Logistics Technician is a skilled technician responsible for the cleaning, inventory and restocking of ambulances in accordance with guidelines set by the Office of the Medical Director and enforced by the Texas Department of State Health Services as well as the inventory and resupply of all associated medical kits and speed-load bins.
SPECIAL NOTE:
This job has been designated as a Safety Sensitive Position by HCESD11. Public safety, as well as the safety of HCESD11 employees, requires that the employee in this position be able to always perform all essential functions at the highest levels. Therefore, this position is subject to frequent drug testing and requires reporting of all employee use of High-Risk Medications identified by HCESD11 and certification from the employee’s physician that such medications can be safely used while working. Because HCESD11 ’s ability to deliver emergency medical response depends on having a workforce that can be reliably scheduled, this job also requires regular and reliable attendance. This is a high-stress job that requires focus, engagement, and high performance in traumatic, physically demanding, emotionally charged, and life-threatening situations. The position involves exposure to serious and graphic injury to adults and children, including death and dismemberment. A high level of physical, mental, and emotional health is an essential requirement.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Adheres to all agency policies and procedures.
- Maintaining appropriate mental focus and emotional stability to perform safety sensitive functions in high stress, traumatic, physically demanding, emotionally charged situations.
- Reporting on time and regularly working scheduled shifts to not compromise the delivery of emergency medical care.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays. (This may include being called in for minimum staffing, shift coverage, weather events, and/or?community and natural disasters)

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Cleaning and decontaminating the outside and all inside compartments of HCESD11 ambulances.
- Accurately perform inventory and resupply of all deployable ambulances in accordance with HCESD11 Policies and Procedures.
- Perform quality control inspections on durable medical equipment utilized for patient care.
- Operating company vehicles in accordance with all state and local laws on city streets, local highways and all HCESDS11 properties.
- Handling and properly disposing and/or packing of biohazard materials.
- Ensure the HCESD11 facilities are maintained in a safe and secure manner.
- Identify unsafe conditions, neutralize, and inform supervisor of situation and action taken.
- Assisting in Emergency Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI)
- Control and document the issuing of company assets and report any discrepancies to shift supervisor.
- Adheres to all policies, procedures and directives of agencies, institutional and regulatory bodies.
- Accurately maintain logs and records for controlled substances and other required documentation.
- Maintains high standards for health, safety, welfare, and ethical behavior.
- Uses the company Mission, Vision, and Value statements to guide daily decisions and actions.
- Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 125 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- High attention to detail and organization/structure
- Maintain current Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with computers and Microsoft office software
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain a high level of accuracy
- Be able to maintain a positive attitude under a variety of conditions, and relate appropriately to a variety of individuals
- Ability to lift to 80lbs. without assistance
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- NIMS ICS-100, 200, 700, 800 within 6 months of employment
- Must not have been excluded by the OIG to participate in Federally Funded Health Care Programs
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- EMT, Hospital Supply and/or Pharmacy Tech experience
