Director of Community Affairs and Partnerships
Summary:
A Director of Community Affairs and Partnerships consistently exhibits strategic thinking with ease and proficiency; navigates gray areas well; adapts to stakeholder personalities; and possesses a breadth and depth of experience that translates into strong strategy guidance for the organization. This role demonstrates the ability to see various aspects of day-to-day operations, and the interdependencies among tenants, consultants, elected officials and the public; exhibits strategic thinking; drives work forward; develops agendas and leads effective meetings; and serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO and organization. The Director of Community Affairs and Partnerships leads efforts in community engagement, communications, and strategic planning, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering collaboration across key stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include:
Stakeholder & Relationship Management:
- Ability to interact and gain the trust of colleagues and stakeholders.
- Build relationships with media, partners, and other community representatives that ultimately reflect well on the organization.
- Cultivate partnerships and engage with local organizations, government agencies, chambers of commerce and key stakeholders to further community outreach efforts and represent the CEO at relevant events and engagements.
- Ability to identify strategically beneficial third-party relationships and develop a strategy to secure involvement.
- Maintain intergovernmental relationships to advocate for organizational priorities and monitor for policies that impact the organization.
- Must be willing to travel as needed and occasionally participate in meetings or events during evenings and weekends.
Leadership & Strategic Input:
- Exhibit initiative in onboarding into and launching efforts supporting new sophisticated or complex projects.
- Provide strategic input for day-to-day challenges and opportunities.
- Participate in the senior management team, as needed.
- Understand the broader context of the organization’s business objectives and goals and anticipate needs or potential conflicts.
- Demonstrates strong crisis management skills by promptly identifying, assessing and escalating sensitive issues to the appropriate personnel or CEO as needed. Work with subject matter experts to develop recommendations to CEO.
Project Management & Operations:
- Coordinate all assigned responsibilities, ensuring quality, timeliness and achieving stated goals and objectives.
- Keep projects on schedule and on budget; update delegated tasks to ensure progress to deadlines.
- Analyze and document processes, developing solutions to enhance efficiencies.
- Effectively coordinate tasks while maintaining an overall high caliber of work product.
Public Relations, Communications, & Marketing:
- Research, develop and execute complex public relations and marketing plans.
- Lead the strategic public relations and marketing planning process with the support of agency partners.
- Support the complex manager’s media team and assist in coordinating media interviews as needed.
- Have an understanding of social media marketing strategy and implementation in support of brand or in a specific campaign or promotion.
Creative Thinking & Innovation:
- Ability to think creatively and share creative ideas with leadership.
- Identify opportunities to expand relationships through cross-servicing.
Experience & Skills:
- Possesses more than 8 years of relevant experience.
- Strong writing skills required, proficiency in AP style.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Solution-oriented and adaptable team player.
- Bilingual is a plus.
